Your Website – The Final Product

  • Websites need to be built in such a way that they can be modified and updated as needed. Your life, business, or organization isn’t standing still, is it? Then why would you want to get a website that never gets updated and quickly becomes outdated? The truth is, you wouldn’t. This is why we design websites to be maintained by either the Client or by Caritas Designs. Websites can either be static or dynamic. Static means that the content you view physically exists on the page you are viewing while a Dynamic website constructs the webpage on-the-fly depending on what the user wants to access. While each of these have a very useful place in website development, it is important to identify which one is most appropriate for your presence on the web. Confused?
  • Caritas Designs will help determine the best and most appropriate type of management and website for your needs. The main thing to realize is that a website is the final product built from different components. Domain name(s), Hosting, Design, and Management are your primary components of your website. Whether you want one or all four of these components Caritas Designs can fulfill your needs.

Domain Name (your street address)

  • Think of a domain name as no more than a street address. Don’t get me wrong. A domain name is very important. You want to make sure that you have the right address to give to people when they want to visit. But it’s a placeholder and in most cases is very easy to identify what domain name (or names) will be right for you.

Hosting (your storage closet)

  • Hosting consists primarily of a place where you can store/access your data and also where you customers can view it. There are many different types of data that you might want to store (i.e. static html pages, databases, email, files, etc.) and how you access this data is important. Also important is who can access this data. Some additional considerations are how much data you want to store (capacity) and how many times you want to access it (bandwidth)?
  • Caritas Designs has a several standard hosting plans and can very easily customize hosting to fit your needs. Our standard hosting plan is $20/month and if you are interested in a package deal, hosting is included.

The Design (your building)

  • The design of a new website is very much an iterative process, and we expect it will take several iterations to reach a final product. For this reason, we do not rush customers into designs that they might be uncomfortable with. We try extremely hard to communicate frequently with our clients to fully understand the needs and wants, what’s feasible and what’s excess prior to “going live”. The design is the first thing that stands out to your customers, if it is a poorly designed site, your customers won’t stay on your site and often you’ll lose business.
  • At Caritas Designs, we base every design upon the needs our our client. There for design costs vary from project to project and client to client. Average design costs for a static website range from $500 to $1,000 and for dynamic websites general design fees start at around $800.

 Management (house cleaning)

  • As stated before, your business or organization is moving forward, why shouldn’t your website? Depending on your website design you may be able to modify the content of your website and there for just need occasional upkeep by Caritas Designs.

Client Managed

    • If this is the case, then you might be able to get by with a standard hosting plan and on-call help. For other sites a more in-depth management plan may be necessary.

Caritas Designs Managed

    • For clients not interested in maintaining or editing their website, or websites where the technical level requires a professional, Caritas Designs is capable of maintaining and updating content at the clients request. Whether it’s adding a special event, removing old content or updating product information we can take care of your needs. Your only job is to send the information to us and we’ll get it updated. Packages managed by Caritas Designs include your domain name, hosting, and much more.

 Additional Projects

  • During the design/management of your website, additional features may be requested/required. These will be completed as separate scopes of work and the client will be notified of the additional cost and a new proposal will be agreed upon prior to implementation of the feature.

Schedule & Costs

  • Design schedule depends greatly on the proactive involvement of the client. Additional potential impacts on design schedule are design complexity (based on client needs) and the current workload of Caritas Designs. A general guideline for a website design is three to six months.
  • After your project has been discussed and a proposal is agreed upon, a deposit of 1/2 of the contract amount will not only reflect your agreement with us, it will also cover the cost of any required components your website will need (i.e. domain name, stock photography, turn-key scripts, etc).
