Domain Name

A domain name that easily identifies itself with the company/organization (or its products) is extremely important for recognition as a professional website. It’s also important to pay attention to alternative domain names that may be useful to you.
For example, If you own a business “Caritas Custom Footwear”, a logical domain name would be www.caritascustomfootwear.com. This domain not only expresses what you sell, but your business name as well. Whereas, www.caritasfootwear.com does not necessarily imply that you are providing a unique and custom product. The visitor might be able to find the same pair of shoes at www.caritasfootwear.com that they could find in a department store.
Another example, www.customcaritas.com establishes, that we are branding your name to the product you are providing. This might allow customers to respond when asked “What are you wearing?” with “I’m wearing Custom Caritas.” It would allow you to advertise “Are you wearing a Custom Caritas? Get yours today from Caritas Custom Footwear.”
It might be wise to purchase additional domain names and direct visitors to the additional domains to your primary domain. By using a specific primary domain name you can choose the “implied” meaning expressed to your visitors regardless of which domain they enter. An example of a company using this is Coca-Cola. Regardless of whether the visitor is trying to enter www.coke.com (the product) or www.cocacola.com (the company) they are redirected to the primary domain www.coca-cola.com.
